David Lynch was always good at finding interesting females and Laura Harring is the most intoxicating big screen brunette since Linda Florentino in “The Last Seduction”.
Regal... an Ava Gardner goddess.
Harring holds the screen very nicely, and even offers a haunting echo of Rita Hayworth in her dual American/ Latin persona.
Not many actresses would be bold enough to name themselves after Rita Hayworth, but Harring does, because she can....she’s the first good argument in 55 years for a “Gilda” remake.
The film will also, no doubt, divide audiences and critics but few will be able to resist its heady sense of intrigue and riveting lead performances by Naomi Watts and Laura Elena Harring.
Lynch’s deliberate, tranquil pacing suggests a drug induced dream state, which particularly favors several of the performers... standouts include Laura Elena Harring as the novocained mystery gal...
